Well, the SS is back in business again with a brand new motor (GM refused to replace the car) and an extended warrenty. After being delayed all last week I finally recieved my baby last friday, along with another goodie that the Fedex chick brought me. :smokin:
This is the new view I get when I drive her now...

The New hood is from a company called IPP. It was pricey but it's very high qaulity. It's weighs around 15-17 pounds, which is about half the wieght of the stock hood. Not much, but it's better than nothing. The scoop is open as well and there are no vibrations or shimmies at freeway speeds :grinno:

kinda looks sharp!
fitmet works thats a good thing. Shakey hoods are scary and look ass.
Edit:

And yes, although I've never thought about it, I could easily take the mesh out. I may try that later today to see how it looks. Good idea mang.

I like it! Teh scoop looks good, and I agree with Ace, see how it looks without mesh. Are u gonna paint it or keep it as is? How much did you get it for?

The only thing with taking the mesh out, is that it can suck bigger things into the engine bay....like birds.

Looks good. I see that you've got the front end fixed too. I actually like the mesh though.

The hole isnt THAT big...maybe a humming bird or two could fit tho ;)
I'll take it out and see how it looks, but I'm sure I'll just keep it in as I like how it is just fine.
The hood was 499 + 120 for shipping!
As far as painting it goes, I WAS gonna have the scoop taped off and have the rest of the hood shot in a couple of coats of Rally yellow and a couple clears, leaving the black CF scoop unpainted. But I like it so much the way it is I'm gonna save the 250+ and spend that on wheels (no one has wheels for this thing right now tho) or the psi-fi pully kit. Niether will be coming soon tho.

Yeah, the scoop on the STiu looks like it came off the damn air inlet of a F-16...looks ok, but IMHO, I dont like carbon fiber on yellow...but then again teh only two yellow cars I like are on my wall.

I say, take the mesh out, and paint it black.
That way you still get some form of protection against small debris, but it's kinda hidden.
Looks good.

Why do you say that you can't find any wheels for your car? What are the specs? Look at tirerack.com

looks badass, ive been thinking about a hood for my next purchase as well. Theres a really nice hood scoop for cavaliers, small but fits the hood and car perfectly. I wasnt sure if i wanted to paint it or get CF, but after seeing yours i think im gonna go CF.
Also what do you mean no wheels? Did Gm decide to be asshats and put a lught nut and gap different than anything else before?
Looks Tits!

I can have enough money for the pully upgrade within a month. The thing is that I JUST had a new motor put in and GM isn't too happy with me at the moment. The last thing I wanna do is put a pully/piggyback kit on this thing and then have something go wrong with my new engine install and have them bitch about my upgrade causing the failure. The car is also fast enough as it stands to get me in more than enough trouble for now. Pully's and other goodies will come later. I'm trying to get the real expensive stuff out of the way first anyhow, which means exhaust/intake comes next. When I say exhaust I mean header, manderal down pipe w/ high flow cat and 2.75 inch manderal pipes all the way back. I still havent found a muffler that I want to use yet. Anyone have experience with Vibrant's oval style mufflers? How do they sound and how do they perform?
The lug pattern is 115x5 w/ an 18x7.5 wheel. No one has anything that looks good.
I like it :bigthumb: Thanks Josh.

you dont need a piggy back unit for a pulley upgrade. The cars computer will adjust the fuel and any needed timming.
And why is GM mad at you? They are the idiots who drove the car with no coolant and a broken radiator.
And honestly i really like the stock wheels GM put on them, u should keep them. Maybe just throw some Falken Azenis on them, but other than that they are nice.

The piggyback removes the pcm's 14.5 pound boost limit on the SC bypass valve. In doing so you get around 16 lbs of boost. This is putting stock cars around 245 whp or so. I believe it also does a few other things besides removing the bypass valve limitation.
Check it out at www.revitupmotorsports.net
As for the wheels, I like them a lot as well. Problem is, everyone else has them to. I gotta be different ;). Plus the stockers arent feather wieghts either, it's like having lead wieghts attached to my car.
GM is pissed at me cause I gave them hell for a month straight about this car and I called them on all their BS they gave me. They were getting irritated with me by the end. I also found out from another SS owner the other night that his ABS system isnt functioning properly either, so I'll still be pursuing that issue as well.
When does your CAI come in ?
Who the hell knows. :dunno: I suppose when K&N gets off their asses and releases it. There have been all sorts of delays.
Edit: I take that back...I just looked on ss.net and it seems that kn just released the intake...woohoo.

i didnt know the PCM limited the boost to 14.5 lbs. Well u could just save up and spend a little more on tthe stage 1 and 2 upgrades. Atleast then you could keep your engine/power train warranty.

I might do that depending on how much GM is going to rape us on the cost for the upgrades. I wont bother with just the stage 1 though, as it is a wussy upgrade. I thinks it's an ecu reflash, injectors(maybe) and an intake. I could be wrong on one of those, but I think that's pretty close to what it will be.

heres all the info for ya
With 205 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque on tap from a lightweight aluminum overhead-cam 2.0-liter four-cylinder, the supercharged model is lively. But if you really want something to get charged up about, stand by for Stage 1 and Stage 2 upgrades for the SS Supercharged (and Saturn Ion Red Line) due in early 2006.
Stage 1 adds revised fuel injectors and new engine calibration to pick up another 20 hp; Stage 2 increases boost via a smaller supercharger pulley (along with another engine recalibration job) to amp up the torque by about 20 lb-ft. The packages can be readily installed by the owner. Pricing will be announced in November at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas.
While the Stage 1 increases power, the added torque in the Stage 2 package is worth the extra cost and effort. The added boost provides a substantial increase in power, especially at the low- and mid-rpm range where base and Stage 1 models need a downshift to prevent running short of breath.
Need more incentive? GM Performance hoss John Heinricy says he expects a 20 percent power boost from the Stage 2 kit “when all is said and done.” That’s about 246 hp and 240 lb-ft, if you’re keeping score.
No prices as of yet.

I was one part heavy on the stage one is all, heh.
GM can still try and prove that these upgrades they offer caused damage to a vehicle is something goes wrong. So I'd rather just get the aftermarket stuff that's just as good for a better price. The piggyback system can also be upgraded later on down the road, which is nice.
