heated seats

Is it possible to put a heated seat kit in the X5? I have a 2004 4.4 and love the car but wife really wanted heated seats.

talked to 3 seperate upholstery shops and none of them will touch this car stating that any electrical modifications with the x5 always cause issues.

called the dealership and they stated it would cost thousands to add this option.

Has anyone every done this? The kits are not all that costly, a few hundred bucks, but now I am really concerned that no shop would do the work...

thanks

It consists of removing all the leather on both seats which will never look the same once its taken off. The $ for the parts and the person witht he know how on how to put it in, which good luck finding them. Also some directions to do it. Good luck with that too.

as a master BMW tech, I'll tell you that it can be done, and the leather will look fine. The heating element is an integral part of the leather, so you'd be replace both seat and backrest on both seats. The leather is huge money and is very Labor intensive. Thats before you add the required control units and harness modification. After all that it would have to go back to the dealer to get the proper coding. See where I'm going with this?
