Hi, I am new to this forum. I am replacing my failing 1985 Chev. Monte Carlo.
I read that the Corolla is very reliabe, but which one? I have read of problems.
I am considering the the 1996 to 2002 models especially the 2002.
is there anyone that can advise me of which year between '96 & '02 is the most reliable? If there is a certain year? are there any chronic problems with it that I should be aware of?
I have read of engines being destroyed by oil that gels. I know nothing about fixing cars. I would appreciate any advice that any of you can give me.
Thank you,
Clyde Howell

93 to 97 are the best years... less rusty, and the bulletproof 7AFE engine... almost to the same point as a 4afe/ 4AGE..
98 and up have a naother engine and it would from what i heard from a toyota mecanic in my 'hood that some have bad pistons and are prone to noisy pistons when its cold outside.
