a burnt out bulb or the blinker/flasher part is defective. I do not know for sure where it is located though.

If it is actually the blinker 'module' (multi-function switch) then it may have, in fact, become dirty and need cleaning or replacing. It's located in the steering collumn at the base of the turn signal lever.

If you turn on the 4-ways and all the bulbs work then I would start with the turn signal flasher unit. Its under the dash, left side of the steering column, there is a small door you can pull down, mine fell right out when I opened the door. (the flasher unit/relay should be about $5-$10 and is the part that makes a clicking noise when the signal is on) My 95 grand am had 2 flasher units (one for the 4-ways, one for the turn signals) and they should be next to each other, so get one to make noise then follow the noise (takes 5 mins to find and 30 seconds to change). Start with the flasher unit, the column switch is about $80, use this as your last option.

ok so the right was solid and the left blinked, she came ove and they were both solid(not blinking any more) so replaced the turn signal switch it was still the same. checked the front bubs and the looked good. after i put the bulbs back the right one started to flash. so i tried messing with the left one and i still cant seem to get it to work. think i am going to shoot this car. :loser:

when my turn signal relay (flasher unit) went it would flash a couple times then stick, try switching the 4-way relay & the turn signal relay, or turn on the 4-ways and see which one doesn't light up, if they all light up its almost got to be your relay, since you already changed the switch.
