I see Jaguar web site is showing the 2006 S-Type R as 400bhp. Does anyone know what they did to get the extra power?

I see there is also talk of aluminum suspension components but the overall weight of the car seems to have increased..

It is likely because of the new SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) hp and torque ratings.

The 2005 S-Type uses an aluminum hood.

I'm in the UK, so our specs might be different. We have had a 400bhp S-type for a while now. It's a supercharged version of the 4.2 litre V8. Sounds great to me! I have the 240 bhp 3.0 litre V6, and it's plenty fast enough for British roads. An S-Type R would be ... well - amazing!

Nige.

BTW, does anyone know of any more active S-Type forums than this? THis one seems a bit quiet!

N.

I believe Europe and US use different standards to measure power so you will see slightly different figures in the different markets for the same car.

Anyway you should be greatful of the fine country roads you have to go cruising on. Here is California it is usually 100yds of straight road with a red light at the end, followed by the same again..

Try this board, has some good stuff..
