I just bought a 1966 mustang coup with a fully built motor. I was disapointed that it was auto beacuse i have been driving standard since I learned to drive. But my friend told me I can shift in this car like a standard. Its a c4 tranny with a 2800 stall converter. It has that cruise o matic thing. Now heres where i am stuck there are 3 gears on the tranny what i need to know is in what order do i use them. I know the first gear starts it out in 2 gear for ice and snow. And I know the middle gear with the green dot is fully auto mod. And I think the last gear is 1 because I an downshift by throwing the stick back. So in what order do i go to start from first to 3rd. I know I sound like an idiot but like I said i have not had much times with auto trannys.

1st is all the back, 2nd is the middle, 3rd is the first gear.

Yes, fom 1st redline, 2nd redline, to 3rd.

If its a reverse manual valve body then you will have Park, Reverse, Neutral, 1st, 2nd, 3rd. But more than likely your tranny has a regular forward shift non manual valve body so your gears starting from the top or closest to the dash will be Park, Reverse, Neutral, 3rd, 2nd, 1st.
