I guess I got a little bored with my intake cover looking like everyone else's so I got out some paint and this was the result (just finished it last night). I painted the base coat with spray duplicolor touch-up paint, hand painted the swirls and did some masking and cutting out with spraying for the stripes!!! I'll clear-coat it later for protection.

On the counter before installation. I included this pic as I couldn't get any decent lighting after I put it in. The yellow kept washing out.

After installation. :smokin: Damn...now it's got me looking at other possibilities!!!

I was looking at mine last month thining the same thing. It looks plain. I thought of having one in chrome, or painted to match the truck color!!

Nice!!

You still have the flaming bug guard :dunno: ?

Look..I took the bug shield off for a couple of days and didn't like it as well. The flames are part of the shield and part of what makes it uniquely mine!!! It's not overkill and gives it a hot look. Sorry, but the flames stay. Some day when you're as old as me, pehaps you'll understand.

Hey I happen to like the flames on your bug shield. I've got one on mine and I don't much care for it because it looks to plain. I may put a chrome one on there eventually. Everything I buy for my truck seems to be chrome or pollished stainless....what can I say I've got the dark metalic grey paint and chrome just looks awsome against it....I'll get pics up after I get my Ford keys, 33's, FIPK, nerf bars, hood/fender flames and clearvue rear window graphic installed

When painting from a spreay can, what is the best thing to use for a clear coat?

Clear coat!!! Duplicolor also has a clear coat (it's that touch up spray sh!+ available at most auto parts stores). You have to put on several thin layers. I haven't clearcoated this yet, but probably will later this week just to seal it all in.

I wonder how easy it is to find Indigo Blue metallic paint in the can? and some other good color to paint the words
