i HAVE A 88 FIERO 2.5. the problem is with starting , keeping the car running. If i spray starting fluid into the throttle body the car will start and stay running for a min. without the starting fluid car doesn't start. I looked into the throttle body and i can see injector spraying.(new injector)Also once the car is running (for that quick minute) if i hit the gas it backfires. please help

jaylie,
welcome to AF.
you can change your fuel filter (a $10. item) first, but it sounds like the fuel pump (in the tank I am pretty sure).
what's your mileage? usually these GM pumps will last for 80-140K depending on use, and even type of fuel used. also the pumps usually go bad on a full tank of gas, never 1/4 tank or empty.
(weight and volume of the fuel makes it more difficult as a "pusher"-type pump to siphon from a 3/4-full tank)
hope it is just a clogged fuel filter, but if not, AutoZone does carry the AC Delco pump (don't buy a cheapy, or you could be back under the car in mid-winter; not fun) for under $50-60 with a strainer sock.
hope this helps,
chris

Hi there. Definately sounds like fuel pump to me. I had the exact same problem with my Fiero. Checked and changed a bunch of stuff and it turned out to be the fuel pump. Mine had a full tank of gas and it wasn't that hard to change.
