hi guys..
l have a formula.. and the spreedometer is 155 but my previous car was normal car and it wasnt as strong as firebird at all, and l was going like 120 miles with it.
formulas and trans ams are 8 clyndr and avarage 300 hp and 5.7 lt. and l think these cars are going faster than 155, l didnt have chance to try and could you guys please let me know how fast formula/trans am goes? the fastest??
thank you..

What year? Which transmission? Top speed depends on how the car is setup, when Luos sees it he's probably going to ask the same questions, and he's probably the best one to ask...

Depends on which gears are in the car but generally the LT1's can get to around 150 - 155

hi formula lt1.
well, l had a car and it wasnt aa race car at all and it had 103 hp 4 clynder, 1600 engine. and it was going around 125-130 mph. l did it many times. so formula/trans ams are race cars and they have big engine, 5.7 liter anad almost 300 hp. how come they make 155?? it is unlogical to me.. l think it should make around 170 maybe 180 mph.
mine is automatic. l guess aautomatics are 4 speed, right? maanuals aare 6 speed.
have you ever tried your car speed?
thank you/

The reason why your older 4 cylinder car could go so fast is because it was a DOHC (Dual Over Head Camshaft) or SOHC (Single Over Head Camshaft) engine. The V8's in the Formulas and Trans Ams are set up with a single camshaft that turns rods that open and close the valves. On a DOHC or SOHC engine, the camshaft(s) is/are located directly above the valves and open them that way. Thus, eliminating the use of having to use pushrods. It allows the engine to achieve higher speeds without having to produce alot of power. Check out www.howstuffworks.com. It helped me understand how engines worked when I first got into cars, I'm pretty sure it will help you out as well.

i have a 98 formula with the LS1. all together about 330hp to the wheels.
i gone 135mph at only 3800 rpms. the engine redlines at 6000 so i assume i could go at least 160mph.

LS1 top speed is 167 or so. Depends on conditions.
Personally, I could give two shits about top speed. I just want to get to that speed in a fucking hurry!!
