1993 taurus help

so i've got a 93 taurus, today i was driving it and i went to turn around in a parkinglot. I put it into reverse and it didn't roll back at all, so i hit the gas, it still did nothing. Put it into drive, nothing
Now the engine was reving just fine, but the wheels wern't doin anything.
BUT! when the rpm's got up higher it was like it compleetly shifted into gear and the car would lurch/jolt forward about 2ft. then stop all of a sudden. BUT it would only do that in drive. it would only go in reverse if i had the car off, in neutral and pushing it

NO, i didn't have the parking brake on.
NO, i wasnt' leaking any fluid but water
YES, all my fluids were full, my oil was a lil low but that can be fixed
NO, nothing was leaking

Any input on what this might be would be helpful. I'm positive it's the transmission, but which part or little piece, or the whole damn thing! i dont know. Our thoughts right now is that (hopefully it's not the whole tranny but i wouldnt be surprised if it was) it could be a linkage or the torque convertor.

Thanks
~Vanessa

Could be a variety of problems. Looks like the pressure might not be building up enough in the tranny. Possible causes. Bad pump, clogged filter, valves or diaphrams stuck due to dirt/grim. Could also be a torque converter gone south.

How many miles since your last tranny oil change?

You could try a tranny oil/filter change. My 90 Pathfinder a similar problem (stop at a stop sign and had to be towed home). I brought it home and made a tranny oil, filter and gasket change. It's worked fine ever since, even got rid of a tranny chater I had. :grinyes: Cost me $125 in parts and an afternoon of work. The tranny shop's prognossis was a tranny rebuild at $2200.00. :screwy:

Good luck,

Denis
