PCM troubles

Thanks to some fine folks advice on our previous downshift trouble thread.
We replaced a 15amp fuse to the cigar lighter...and Autozone scanner proceeded to spit out a bunch of transmission error codes.

P0740, P0753, P0758, P0785, P1860, P1810 and then he wrote down:
TCC Circuit Malfunction, Shift Solenoid A Circuit Mal., Shift Solenoid B Circuit Mod., Shift/timing solenoid mal., Manufacturer control. trans.
were what he wrote down for us.

It was his opinion that it was the PCM (like member Blazee suggested to us in our other thread) since all the codes were transmission related.

Of course, Autozone didn't have the part...any suggestions where we go from here? Used? Trying to do it as inexpensively as possible and we sure appreciate any more advice available.

Looking all over the 'net and haven't found any PCM prices for a new or used unit in case thats what we need. Kind of afraid to contact a dealer...any good referrals from knowledgeable folks like you?

First off his opinion is WRONG! The guy who read your codes is a parts man not a technician and does not possess the training or knowledge to make diagnostic desicions..all he wants to do is sell you a part.
Those codes right there indicate to me that the trans is not recieving proper power moding.
I would look towards the Ignition Switch as being the culprit here.
The shift solenoids recieve power from the switch,, I have seen many switches cause this concern.

Thanks GMMerlin; would the ignition switch be doing anything funky to indicate it being the problem? We don't have a repair center we know well enough to trust not being worked over for a lot of unnecessary charges, and I barely know enough automotive terms to be dangerous. However, if its a fairly simple disconnect/reconnect new part type operation, and I know what I'm looking at...I usually have good success! I'm always glad to get experience whenever I can, and this site is a goldmine to amateurs like us!

I'm sorry for the confusion, in the other thread I was just answering your questions about the PCM, and explaining why your transmission was acting like that, I didn't mean that the PCM was the problem.

As GMMerlin said, those codes indicate a loss of power to the tranny and it typically is the ignition switch that causes the loss of power.

With the switch on, check for voltage at fuse #11 (cluster). If no voltage or low voltage is present, then I would suspect the ignition switch (or faulty wiring for a remote starter if you have one)

If you have voltage there, try turning the switch on and off a few times to make sure that it remains constant.

If the voltage is present and stays constant, then inspect the wiring going to the transmission.

Would these problems exist if the ignition switch got wet?
I ran my truck through a pond and sucked up some water into the engine. Got lucky with no engine damage, but when the tranny started acting up and the engine began idling high (1500), I took it to the local AAMCO shop to see what they could diagnose.
They said six codes came up and that they were all different sensors and it would take hours of diagnostics, ie lots of money.
Not that I'm trying to be cheap, but since the truck didn't stay submerged in water, I'm thinking some things got wet and maybe shorted out and that's causing the problem.
Do you think they would get ticked if I asked them to check the ignition switch? I guess I need to get the codes that came up too.
