Hello everyone. Let me introduce myself. I'm Matt from Vermont.
I've been wracking my brain looking on ebay and websites trying to find an official release of Initial D 4th stage in the United States or imported to the United States.
I noticed a post by an admin about not linking to fansubs and illegal versions. I liked it very much. It's a good post.
Only thing it's missing is a link to the place where you CAN buy the legit stuff. Anyone know it?
I ran a quick search of the forum and included things like "official release" and other variations. I haven't found anything yet.
Pretty much what I'm looking for is to avoid blowing my cash on the badly translated crap that's all over E-bay. I'd like to buy something that I can actually understand and doesn't sound like a Japanese 1 student did for a class project. lol.
Usually the official releases/imports are the best way to go.
Anyone able to point me in the right direction for a version of 4ths stage I can actually understand the subtitles of? Thanks!

EDIT: After looking around. I did find this. Does anyone know if they would be legit? This sucks, I swear it's impossible to tell what is real or not. lol

Is that bad? They have Japanese audio but english subtitles. (The only way for a non-japanese speaker to watch......god do dubs suck.)
The english subtitles won't be too bad if it's a legal version I would think. I know the Japanese versions of the previous seasons were decent. So I guess the important question then is.......if they ARE the Japanese version...........are they legal?
Anyone know?
Or just as good I suppose is, does anyone know where I can get the legal Japanese versions of Initial D 4th stage?

Legitimate Japanese DVD's are Region 2 coded, requiring a Japanese region DVD player to watch.
Those are bootlegs, usually from Hong Kong or China. You can tell because they are "region free", and therefore able to be viewed on American DVD players.
That's a surefire sign of bootlegging. No Japanese DVD releases (Region 2) are able to be played on American (Region 1) DVD players.

Are you 100 percent sure about that? I have a few (non initial d) movies and anime bought from the companies who produce them direct and some of them are region free.
Is there anyway to find this out for certain?
I'd really like to buy them but I don't want to support illigitimate bootleggers.

110%. Japan is Region 2. Region coding is the method legitimate production companies use to protect their copyrighted materials. Here's the way the regions shake out.
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Resevered for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
Uncoded "Region 0" DVD's are not industry releases. They are bootlegs, home recordings, or private releases. Save for a few non-profit clauses, they are violations of copyright law and illegal.
