well, i was looking for something to do today and i called up one of my friends and he was telling me about a race that was going oooon. so i drive out there and find out its a 98 eclipse gs vs a 91 escort gt. the escort has an intake and a rebuilt tranny and new clutch(thanks to me) and the eclipse has a full exhaust and an intake. sadly enough the first race the escort took it by 3 cars and the second race the scort had it by a nose. at the begining of the race the guy in the eclipse was talking shit and after the race the guy in the escort was talking shit, and go figure, neither one would line up with me. in a funny turn of events, the guy driving the escort was doing some laps around the one ways in town and ended up getting pulled over for doing like 45 in a 30 lol

the guy in the gs should have known that he was probably not gonna beat the escort gt. even though it's a FORD, and secondly an ESCORT, the 420a usually can't take many gt cars, if any at that.

Dosn't sound like much of a race to me. A GS vs. escort. Whoopte.
Would have been nice to watch you line up and do circles around both cars put together.

Everybody around here hears my turbo and thinks that automatically makes my car super fast or something. the only thing that will line up with me anymore is someone that doesnt care if he looses or an occasional v8

I used to have an escort. Just because it says GT doesn't mean it's fast. It just means it's a bonafide piece of crap with a 2.0 engine in it. It's sad, extremely sad that guy lost to an escort. I had one and that thing was freaking slow. big time and I had the sporty zx2 or whatever the hell it is.

hey now. Don't bash the NT's to much. I like how everyone assumes that the NT's are the slowest cars on earth. Which is probably true in almost ALL cases, but... I have a turbo and nobody knows it :D that is until they try to race me. I think I like having a sleeper. It's still not that fast but I've cut down a few unsuspecting cars. ;) When my car was still NT I raced a beat up crappy dodge durango with the spare on. The Durango had me by at least a car length when we hit the next light. also, my 1987 honda accord with 210K whooped the eclipse. Does any one know how fast a nt all motor has been?

lol, I know exactly what you're talking about. The BOV and the spooling whine/whistle makes everybody dish out some mad respect for your car, but it's pretty embarassing to lose to a slower car because you have enough boost leak to fill up a weather balloon. Been there, done that :grinno:

Sigh, too much to list bro. They took out the old 7-bolt a week ago and discovered that my practically new T-28 blew along with the engine, and my clutch was somehow fired to crap, with burn marks all over it. To top it all, the port job on the race motor was so big, the 2G intake mani runners are literally half the volume, so I need to get a bigger 1G TB and a ported 1G mani. Blah.
I don't want to hijack this thread, but I will post one up once the car is running, hopefully some time before the end of this century. lol.
(MHI EvoIII 16G and 63mm race TB in the mail though :smokin: )

since you have a turbo how much you think your HP is pushing out around?

I'm trying to get some time on a dyno, It's going to cost a bit but I think everyone is curious. As soon as I get it done I'll definatly let you all know the results.

i dont know, but i thought it was suiside to put a turbo on a 420A, i didnt think it could take the beating of a turbo especcialy a 14b, someone please correct me cause im lost now

Nope it's fine as long as you have the supporting fuel mods like larger injectors, upgraded fuel pump, etc. You can't run much boost, but it will be comparable to a stock gst. Anything over 9-10 psi and internals will need to be upgraded if you expect it to last.

yeah as of right now I'm only running like 5-6psi. The turbo kit company's say that a nt can handle up to 8-9psi on the stock internals. That may be true but of heard of people rings going out after only a few hundred miles. to just add the 5-6psi I had to put on a new fuel pump, new regulator and some electronic mods so the ecu wouldn't freak out. I've probably put down a couple hundered miles so far and I have yet to have any problems.

How much did you spend in total to turbo that
Skugulgurk
10-05-2005, 10:31 PM
It was 2295.99 from Hahn Racecraft. Though knowing what I know now. I could have built the same/better kit for less than half that. If anyone wants the parts list from the hahn kit I'll post it for you guys, along with the write up.

wow i bought my stock 14b from a junkyard for 300 and i and putting in about 1500 into supporting mods and i will have then 255 fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, MBC, S-AFC, Gauges, 3" exhaust, Hard Piping, and a header, and other random bull shit to fidle with. you spent alot on that.

True, but Hahn makes it easy and gets all the miscellaneous shit you need together for you, and their stuff is decent quality.

That is definitely true. If your not to positive on how turbo systems work or are unsure of all the componants that are needed, go with a kit. It may cost a little more, but a poorly assembled self built kit will probably cost you a LOT more in the long run. Plus you get the "super" 16G which is a pretty killer turbo for the street.
