Anyone else have friends call you up..."you you wanna hang out"...ME.."nah, i'm broke..i'm gonna stay home"......THEM.."oh come on i need a driver"....
WTF, almost everytime i hang out with people, they want me to drive... THEN, let's say i don't hang out...then go to like 7-11 for nachos, or dunkin for coffee....they're like "oh i thought you where staying home".. It's to funny really.
One time i didn't hang out, and someone told me "oh well if someone drives drunk, and kills someone..you're to blame cause you turned down being a designated driver"...LIKE I KNEW they where going to drink and drive, that's bullshit. AND if someone ruins there stupid life cause they drove drunk, that's the problem THEY created...assholes.

Yeah, isn't that like a loser to say you're at fault when THEY get drunk and wreck their car. Fuck 'em.
If they want to hang out with you, that's cool, but if they just want a driver....forget it!

Seriously I know exactley how you feel. Around where I live the bars suck it's all red-necks and like ugly-ass 35 year old single mothers. So I rarely go out to party(meaning like at the most once a year.) It's also that I have zero funds to spend on fucking $5 watered down booze. So anytime my bud's wanna go out they call me and if I say no they're like well if you don't feel like drinking you can be the DD. And I'll do it occasionaly because that one time I do wanna go out someone else is the DD. But, it gets annoying as fuck to hear this everyweek. Your buds who say it'll be your fault if somebody gets a dui, are just fucking losers. If anybody said that to me it'd be a direct kick in the nuts to them. Peace-

Damn dude that totally blows man.. they dont ask you to hang out, just to be a designated driver, that's TOTALLY fucked up.
Thankfully I go to alot of parties, atleast recently anyway, but no one ever asks me to be a designated driver, I offer because I dont drink and dont want to see one of my friends mess up their life because of something stupid.

I could see if they just straight up asked you to be the DD. Hanging out just seems to be a cover to be used to get you to be the DD.

since i dont drink i think when the time comes i'll be the designated driver, but they're gonna have to pay their way in fuel, im not gonna run round an use my fuel to pick up drunks. and saying its your fault for some drunk fool gettin hurt ? now thats taking it too far, its the drunks fault if they drive, not your at all. i honestly think they have attitude problems.
bars around my sister's uni give free soft drinks all night to the designated driver of a group who go to the bar. its a good idea as since you're not drinking you're getting free drinks to be responsible.

Those people don't sound like friends to me. I would start haning out with other people who respect you.
I usually end up having to drive because I can fit more people in my truck or I'm usually driving one of the Tahoes. Not a big deal but when it happens in succession of several weeks I start to get annoyed. But for the most part everyone tries to keep it even with driving.
Sorry your 'friends' are like that. They sound like dicks.

I've been the wheelman for the past few weekends. I don't drink, and so I'm just naturally the driver when it comes time to go somewhere.
The things I've seen lately, I don't miss it at all. People so drunk they fall off their chairs, people vomiting all over each other, and what for? And it's the same people every single weekend, like re-runs on TV. I don't know why it used to seem like the only thing to do. I just don't have a use for it now.
I lost 2 friends last year, and one the year before, so I'm glad to drive for my friends if they're going to be drinking. It's better than one or more of them getting impaired driving, or more of them getting killed.
The way I see it, which is worse? One of your own driving and getting killed and you being blamed for not preventing it, or; not being blamed for it and blaming yourself? I blame myself for two of the deaths that happened, nobody ever blamed me, and I can hardly live with it. It's something I think about every morning when I wake up. Now when someone wants me to drive, I just do it. Life is too short for the problems alcohol causes.

yup, i've driven (illegally) on the road without a license because i didnt want mate to drink an drive, if they got hurt or worse, killed, an i knew i could'a driven i'd never forgue myself. i'd rather get a driving ban than have mates get killed.

my friends just drink at their houses.....simple as that...get drunk at home, pass out....but if you do decide to be the designated driver, ALWAYS drive their car...that way, if they puke or w/e...they'll have to clean it up...not you *evil laugh*
