I'm replacing the plastic peice that is under the windshield wiper arms along the bottom of the windshield on a 1997 intepid (ES) 3.5L. I need to know how to remove the wiper arms to install the plastic peice.
Thanks!

You may need a flat blade screwdriver just in case the locking tabs don't move freely. To remove the arm, disconnect any washer hoses that go to the arm, lift the arm at the wiper blade end off of the windshield until it will not lift anymore and hold it at that position, at the opposite end where it is attatched to the pivot shaft, on the right side of the arm as you look straight at it you will see a metal tab just sticking out from the underside, take the screw driver blade and insert in the area between the tab and the side of the arm and twist the screwdriver in either direction or pry sideways against the arm to slide the tab out until it does not move anymore then release the wiperblade end of the arm. This tab will take the spring tension off of the arm and hold the arm/blade off of the windshield, (If that didn't happen the arm was not lifted high enough, pull the arm back up against the stop and pull the tab out more to lock the arm) grasp both ends of the arm and rock the blade end slightly while pulling straight up on the shaft end to pull the arm off of the hub. be careful not to lose the plastic locating key, it should stay with the arm but don't lose it should it come off, it helps in the correct placement of the arms when reinstalling as they slide into a slot on the hub.
