01 civic trouble

i have an 01 ex with an lx motor, i have a non vtec with a vtech ecm. my problem is i redline at 4000 rpm now, if i change to an lx ecm will it solve this?

Is the car throwing a code? Have this brught to your Honda dealer or bring it to pepboys where they can run the codes. But off the top of my head yes the ECU would need to be chaged. Give us an update ther eis another thread regarding this recently as well.

i have no check engine light on, yet. there are no codes either, it is idling at about 500 rpm, and redlines at 4000, no matter what. i am trying to get a non vtec manual trans computer for it now. with the wiring harness off the non vtec auto trans motor, it ran for a couple seconds, then quit. i changed to the vtech manual harness and now it is running but under the conditions i described. i know i need to just fix the vtech and put it back in but i thought hey why not
