Engine Dies

I have a 91 century with a 3.3 engine and have been starting to have a little trouble with the engine dieing when I pull up to a stop sign or slow down to turn a corner. It will start right back up but if you don't add a little gas it will somtimes die again and has to be restarted again, also when it is idleing you can hear the engine sort of surge somtimes. I have thought of the CPS, but I think you might not be able to restart it right away. I am leaning towards the TPS or the IAC valve. I don't have a fuel pressure tester but I can get one to use, by the way what is the normal fuel pressure for the 3.3? Any help would be helpful. Thanks

The cps will start back up if it is just starting to go bad but the problem you are having seems to be with the car's idle. Remove the IAC from the throttle body and spray it with throttle body cleaner. Don't move the pintle while you do this. Also you may want to clean the throttle body too. This should help with the problem. If it dosen't you may want to check the fuel pressure to make sure the fuel pump is working properly.

Checked the IAC and it was VERY dirty, cleaned it off the best I could and seems to be working fine now, checked the fuel pressure and it was 40# so that's OK also found a NOS Delco CPS on ebay for $8 so got that for somtime down the line. Thanks for all the help. Mailman
