just browsing the honda website, saw that the highway mpg on the new civic is better with the auto transmission--40 mpg to the manual's 38. odd.

My Wife's '05 EX/SE Auto gets 40 MPG on the highway. Not sure about the Non-VTEC Auto's though. Their mileage nay be a little different.

it's the gear ratio that is different in auot and maunal.
i have a manual 2002. if going on a highway about 60mph or plus, i have to be in 5th gear with rpm about 2,500+, if i decided to use my four gear then my rpm will be 3,000+...but in auto. you are have 4 speed. when u drive a auto at 50-65mpg, you should have a rpm lower than 25,000 rpm.
gas milage and rpm are proprotional to each other
