Clutch Problems

I have a 1990 Mazda B2200. When I depress my clutch with it in gear and go to start my truck it starts moving like the clutch is not working but sometimes it works fine. Does anybody know what this could be. Could it be the clutch master cylinder or the clutch release cylinder?

You should first try to rebuild the
slave cylinder. Rebuild kits are around
$4-5 bucks at your local auto parts store.
The slave cylinder (clutch release cylinder) is on the right hand side
of the transmission at the front.
If you inspect it and see fluid leaking around the boot
then it is probably bad. This usually takes about 30min to 1 hour.
There are only a spring, piston, boot, and pushrod in this
unit. A bleeder screw is on top. Once you remove the
unit, you simply pull it apart and clean it, dip the new piston in fresh brake fluid replace the new components and re-install it. Then, you will need a second person to pump the cluth pedal, while another opens the bleeder screw to remove any air in the system. Monitor the fluid
level in the reservior because the level will drop quick during this process.
Add fresh fluid. Keep repeating this process until all evidence of air is
gone. If this does not fix your problem, it could be the clutch master
cylinder. Hope this helps Chad

Replaced Slave cylinder and Clutch master cylinder and bled the system which was the hardest part and my clutch works fine now. total cost was $43
