Front Right Side Thump

Whenever I go over a bump there is a bump or clunking noise from the right front tire area. This occurs when the right tire itself goes over the bump. I pulled the tire and checked the brake pads they looked good, except the outside pad, it looked like a crack was developing by the metal plate.
The sound also comes when a turn is made either left or right again only from right side front. I did not see any problems when the wheel was off but, I am no expert with front ends. Anyone have a clue where to look.

Clunk is usually a worn out strut or shock. Yours has struts on front. Bushings usually wear out. If you have popping and cracking when turning your wheel it is very possible you have CV joint problems. Have the car inspected to see for sure. You can raise the car yourself and check the struts and you can look at the CV boots for tears if you want to give it a go. What usually happens is that the rubber flex boots tear, dirt gets in, and boom, you are needing a CV shaft. Should be able to get it inspected for free though at most garages. The struts have to come off if the Cv joint is bad so if this is the case a good time to replace. Might be lucky and only need struts. Have them check your steering parts too, just to be sure. Not uncommon for both struts and Cv joints to be replaced at same time.
