I bellieve I have a Coolant Temperature Problem, the fan doesn't coem on when it's warm and the air/fuel mixture is bad sometimes which causes the exaust to smell.
Does any one know where it is on the 3.4L V6 engine?, and is it easy to change for an amature?

Have it scanned for accuracy, don't guess here.

The ECT (coolant temperatue sensor) for an Alero with 3.4L is located on the thermostat housing. Just follow the upper radiator hose towards the engine. It's relatively easy to replace if it's bad. The temperature gauge on the instrument panel uses it to display your engine temperature. Also, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) uses it by referencing to the ECT sensor. The PCM controls relays to control the operation of the 2 fans based on engine temperature.
