I was just looking on ebay and found lots of auctions for a "speed chip" that claims to add 20 hp by simply installing a resistor in the IAT sensor that tricks the computer into thinking the incoming air temp is 54 degrees causing it to dump more fuel giving more hp and faster excelleration off the light. Has anyone heard of this or tried it? They are selling the "kits" on ebay for around $2-5 but I work in electronics and can grab a resistor from work for free if this is actually possible. What are you thoughts?? :wtf:

Don't even bother. It's all gimmick. If you want to improve your performance and miledge, either get a hand held tuner suck as Hypertech or Super Chips, or even bettr get a tune from Nelson!!!

I kind of had the feeling but since I won't be able to get a nelson until tax time I thought this would be a quick easy way to gain some power. On the upside I ordered my FIPK today!!! Cost $202 total with shipping. I also ordered my Ford keys today and I'll be picking up my new Cooper 285-75-16's in the morning. Now all I have to do is set up the appointment for my exaust and I'll be a happy man. I'll get some pics up finally after I get all the work done.

I got it from this guy on ebay. Price was 187.95 plus $15 for shipping. I think he's got one left at this price.

That's just what I want to do...shove more fuel through than I already do! Gas is up to close to 3.00/gal again this afternoon.
I've seen these on eBay also. I dunno...something about a claimed 20 hp gain for only two bucks...I think it would be a waste of two bucks. If it worked, everyone in the world would have it and be talking about it. :2cents:

Congrats. That's exactly what I paid for mine on eBay back in July. Good stuff Maynard. It'll only take about 30-40 minutes to put in taking your time. Two things I'd add. 1. Make sure you disconnet the ground (or neg. pole) to your battery. This will have the air and fuel sensors to your computer reset after you're done and reconnect. 2. Handle your MAS (mass airflow sessor) carefullly as to not damage the screen or wires. Beyond that, take your time and have fun. You're really gonna like it once it's hooked up. Just don't be surprised when you start it up the first couple of times. It may want to stall or run a little ruff, but that won't last very long at all. It's just the system resetting itself.

Yeah, there's little wires in your maf that look like a spider web... they're not! I poked at one of mine a little and was like "Whoa! Shit! That's not a web, it's a wire!" Fortunately, I didn't break mine. I got mine shipped for $196 from another guy on ebay, but I had purchased from him before, so he cut me a break

Yeah I'm totally stoked to finally have the cash to do all this. I just picked up my new tires and DAMN they look cool!!! I can't wait to get them mounted!!!!!!! I was talking to a buddy at work who has an '04 (mine's an '02) and we were talking about our trucks. He already has the intake (volant) and flowmaster exhaust with 33's on it and we got to talking about milage. Come to find out that while I'm consistantly getting around 380 miles per tank he's happy if he gets 300. Am I going to have this same problem when I get my 33's put on?

Take note of how you engine sounds before you put the intake on and again afterward. I was surrprised there was such a difference. IMO the truck sounds much better with the cold air intake. You can here it sucking up all the extra air.

I've heard that actually from other people. There is actually a guy selling a 77 series on ebay that he only used for 250 miles (so he says) and then took it off because both him and his wife didn't like the added noise lol
