LOL RIGHT. Seriously i would rather have no subs. ahahah. I bought 2 12" subs powered by a 400rms audiobahn amp. Those fuckers blew in like 15 mins. LOL. I would never tell anyone to buy them. For the money you can get audiobahns.

I honestly don't know why you guys hate Sony sooo much. I know that I know close to nothing about different brands but I do have a good ear for quality. Now I know for a fact that you cannot get much worse than Sony when it comes to coxial speakers. I used to have those and they were just horrible when compared to others. As for subs, I probably have one of the worst set-ups anyone could think of. I have two 12" Xpolds inside a pre-fab bandpass box with an 800 watt Xplod mono amp. Maybe Xpolds were meant to go with Xplod amps cause everyone who has sat in my truck says it is crazy loud inside and that there is a lot of bass. I have had them for over a year with no problems. The only problem I have is that the bass could be cleaner on certain songs but there is a lot of noise from my truck itself that is contributing to that. Other than that I love the way they sound. I am a music person so its not like I don't know anything about how things should sound. Until I hear other subs that clearly sound way better than mine I don't plan on switching them out. IMO if you enjoy how it sounds then it doesn't matter how bad the brand is SUPPOSED to be.

Or something better than Audiobahn, like....anything other than Sony ;)

Well, if you're happy with it that's all that really matters. It won't be hard to find something that sounds better though, at all. Just about anything will sound better than a prefab bandpass box, regardless of the subs being used, they're as bad as you can possibly get without duct taping the subs in your trunk without a box at all. I'm sure they get loud though, prefab bandpass boxes will do that. That's pretty much all they can do, get really loud at one frequency and throw everything else away like it doesn't matter.

How did you blow 2 12" subs off of 400W RMS?

In full clip a 400rms amp can do ~800rms, and since they were Sony subs they could probably only handle 2-300rms each. Hence, poof

My first pair of 12's were Xplods. They sounded good. They were actually very good sq at around 130 db. I had them on a clean little Jensen 72o with a Jensen 680 4 channel. That was honestly the most reliable system I've ever put together. Installed one time, and no issues ever. Lots of compliments. Those sonys dont want a lot of power. They can handle 200-250 rms, but they sound better with approx 130. They sound really good w/ 130 actually.

I'm not saying they come close to what my Type R's can do, but I pushed those speakers to the limits for 2 years before they started to sound bad. I'm an abusive listener. And those subs are decent.

I wouldn't use their coax's if they were given to me though. I wouldn't waste the time switching them out w/ stock speakers.

and I wouldn't buy their amps either.

Everyone has their own vision. I personally dont like um but hey its your money not mine. I mean if your on a tight budget then get them. but if you have some money to buy look at other brands. My first system was all Kicker. Kicker 6.5" Components in front, Kicker 6x9 in back, Kicker 650watt 4 channel amp. Kicker 2400watt 2 channel amp, and two Kicker S12L7 subs. I paid about $2000. I didnt have much money after it was stolen so ive been workin on audiobahns for now. When i get my new car im getting Kicker again.
