I'm trying to change the clearance light in the front of the car. I want to change the light bulb but I can't seem to get the lights off? I'm scared I'm gonna crack the cover of the headlights or the clearance lights? Can somebody please tell me how to do this? Thanks

This is the same reply I made to a "sidemarker" post about 10 or so lines down...I have a 96 GLE (it's for sale, any takers?) that I've pulled the clearance light on...I don't think much difference from the other 4th gen maximas...lemme know if you're still having problems and I'll try to take some pics.
What I do is unscrew the screw at the top of the light (yeah you have to open the hood). Look in between the headlight and the clearance light towards the bottom and you'll see the little knob that holds it (clearnance light) to the housing. Stick a long narrow screwdriver in next to that and pop it out. You should then be able to slide the clearance light out. If needed you could get some WD40 and spray the area of the knob to make it a little easier to remove the light. Hope that helps.
