Ignition coil assembly

I have a 96 Pontiac GrandAm Se 2.4 /4 cylinder DOHC quad 4 motor. I was told the ignition coil assembly was bad on my car, so I bought the part from the auto parts store to replace it. Unfortunately, the part I received from the store was in pieces. None of the books I have on my car tell me how to assemble all the parts underneath the camshaft cover. Could someone send me some information on this.

Susan,
welcome to AF.
you shouldn't need any pics, as after you remove your cam cover (I think four 10mm bolts) and unplug the coil connector, you will have a complete blueprint in front of you.
a large white plastic shield is clipped to the underside of the cover, and I believe four black elongated boots clamp to the main cover to drop into the wells to attech to the spark plug tips.
under the large white housing, lies the coil pack (and also I think the control module?) which will be held by I am pretty sure 5.5mm bolts.
just remove and replace in reverse order.

hope this helps,
chris

The control module is under the cover on the 2.4's, when you flip the cover over pay attention to where everything is under the white plastic cover, and change one coil at a time, just pay attention to where the wiring goes. It's pretty easy to change the coils, there should only be 2 of them. Good luck.
