That's a shame ... I hope all the kids will be OK, even the ones not in the accident.
As far the idiot driver is concerned ... I can't think of any punishment (physical or otherwise) that would come close to what he had done to those kids.

christ, that's terrible. old people really are a menace. one almost took me out the other day on my bike as i was passing him, he merged into my lane without signaling or checking his blindspot.
after you reach a certain age you should have to take a drivers test every so often to see if you're still fit to drive.

....after you reach a certain age you should have to take a drivers test every so often to see if you're still fit to drive.
It's not just old people that need to re-take a drivers test. It should be mandatory for everyone to be tested on a regular basis (every 2 yrs when you re-new your license), not just old people.
I just heard on the radio that up here in Ontario, Canada the bus drivers are now allowed to submit to the police the plate numbers of vehicules that pass when the lights are flashing. One bus driver even said that he had someone pass his bus on the right hand side. The same side that the kids step off the bus. WTF !!!!
Just reinforces that fact that there are idiot drivers everywhere ... the ones that are in a big hurry to get somewhere that they cannot wait for 1-2 mins. for a school bus.

I agree dugie.....I aint upset cuz tha guy was old, not really. It is just that he did not stop. even after he ran them babies over. I know some of his grand children. He has kids of his own, how could he be so cold. And he will probaly get off scott free. It has happened here before. A few years ago an old woman in her 70s hit a little girl by tha park. She did not stop after hitting her. When tha cops got her they found out that she was not susposed to drive at all..Her lisence was taken away tha year before, due to her health, They let her go free, due to her age. She also killed her husband years before that and got off. Then her next husband vanished. It just pisses me off.

in london alone there are something in the region of 50 children (under 18) killed EVERY WEEK from being hit by cars. its terrible. i've seen people get hit by cars a few times. its disturbing and very scary. i've been hit by a wing mirror, escaped with just bruising, but took the mirror right off the car.
not all old people are bad drivers, my dad's over 60 an he's perfectly capable, but there's always one.
as for not stopping, that is unforgiveable and the severity of the consequences is no doubt going to be huge. may god have mercy on his soul, for no one else will. maybe there was something that made him not stop, mental condition possibly, but i couldn't forgive anyone who would/could do that.

Don't even get me started on old people because they fucking piss me off.
In Tulsa this kid was driving along in a three lane highway. He was in the far left lane and the old couple in front of him STOPED to make a right turn. Well since the speed limit was 65 the kid couldn't stop in time and hit the old couple. He died but they lived.
Now we got this old wrinkled up fuck who is a piss poor excuse for a human who needs to be fucking shot in the damn head.
Ok I better leave because this pisses me off.

Politely pointing out spelling or grammar errors is not being an ass. I myself was bothered by the continual spelling of the word "the" as "tha".
Anyways, about the kids, that really sucks.

That is just fucked up. Nothing else to say. In my town a couple of years ago the local news had a crew ride in a bus, and they recorded like 10 cars passing the bus while it's red lights were on. The got all the license plates on camera and every person ended up getting tickets. What is really stupid is that at the highschool I went to all the buses would line up out front of the school. They would turn off the engines but leave the lights on and the stop sign's out. Now this is in the parking lot for the seniors. The cops were notorious for sitting there and give out tickets to anyone that drove past the buses(the only way to get out of the parking lot) they seriously needed something else to do. Peace-

Damn, this is tragic...i'm so sorry for those poor kids.
There's is really no way to make light of this, i honestly don't even know what i would say..
I'll tell you one thing though, this could have been prevented. What i'm about to say may sound ignorant, and insensitive....F*CK YOUR ELDERS.... :evillol:
Old people get to much respect these days, end of story. I see them all the time open there car doors, hit new cars...and cripple-walk fast out of the way... I see them almost cause SEVERE traffic accidents almost daily. ONE OF WHICH was a month ago in which the person drove 10mph through a red light, with everyone just looking at him. WHY don't those a-holes get hit by a drunk driver...?
Another thing, ever hear on the news and old person was run down and killed.......hit and run...? 9 times out of 10 i bet that old person F*CKED up and caused it....so the driver was pissed and figured F*CK HIM/HER..wrong...but who gives a sh*t.. :iceslolan
I think, and this is being REALLY fair to these mofo's....have monthly, REQUIRED BY LAW dmv tests, hell it could be 1 hour long, just DO IT. The ones that can't drive...YOU DON'T...F*CKER.. Hell i'm responsible, and if i know i'm old and cannot drive...I WON'T GODDAMNIT.. :banghead:
Yall probably remember my accident when the old lady (late 60's) blew a red light at 35/40 and went head on into my drivers front wheel area. If i was in a smaller car, i'd have MANY injuries as the policeman put it.

that sucks... hope the kids make it out alive and well. yeah i'm not the greatest driver eiether, i rear ended an old guy while driving my grandmothers car with her in it ... guess her horrible driving rubbed off on me. i do believe you should have to retake your driving test upon license renewal ... makes perfect sense to me
and on a different note i personally don't see how it matters whether someone spells "the" as "tha" ... it gets the point across and unless you are mentally ill you can read "tha" just as easily as "the" ... not trying to start a war i just find it futile to correct someone for improper grammar or spelling ... not everyone has a fine college education or upbringing ... almost shallow to do that to someone if you ask me.

after you reach a certain age you should have to take a drivers test every so often to see if you're still fit to drive.
That amounts to political suicide. Nary a politician would get near that.
Instead of the common man (ladies too) originally intended for us, we
get elitists and career politicians that "know better" than the people.
The older generation have built our nation into the lone superpower,
but many older folks have let it get to their heads. I'm a nurse in
geriatric settings and I hear the bitter 'Holier than thou' all the time.
Getting the laws changed to truly protect society's safety would be an
uphill battle. And insurance rates should be readjusted as well.
I just became a daddy recently, I cringe at the thought of some mindless
shmuck even getting close to my kids. Hope those kids make it.

I have the same problem with drivers refusing to stop for the red lights on the bus. I have 2 kids in elementary school ( 3rd grade and K.) One of my kids is deaf, so we are extra careful about boarding and getting off the bus. I happen to live across the road from a grocery warehouse that is busy at the times of the bus arrival each day, and not a week goes by when somebody whether it's an employee, out of state truck driver, or other driver will pass the bus while his lights are on. The problem here in my area of NY is that there is nothing we can do to penalize these unsafe drivers, because I was told by the sherrifs' department that in order for them to write a ticket for the offense, the cop has to witness the driver breaking the law! That is BS! The bus driver can take the plate number down and report it, but all the cops can do is issue a warning to the driver. Last year, we had a tractor trailer pulling out of the warehouse and would not stop for the bus. The bus driver yelled and waved his arms out his window for the truck to stop, but the truck driver made some obscene gestures and yelled obscene language at the bus driver. Unbelieveable! Fines in this state can go as high as $1200 and 9 to 11 points on your driver's license if you are caught, but that's just it, you have to be caught by the cop themselves. I have trained myself to watch vehicles approaching the bus when my kids get on or off, and remember the license plate numbers of the vehicles. So far I have had the cops at my house about 10 times in the last year, but it's so frustrating when they tell me all they can do is issue a warning to the driver. I've even had them hide out on my road when they had time available to do so, but as luck would have it, nobody broke the law at the time. Things need to change and the law needs to be re-written giving the bus drivers more authority to be able to report these unsafe drivers and for the police be able to ticket them on the sworn statement of the bus driver. :banghead:

On a further note:
Maybe you folks could do what I do. More often than not, I carry my
digital camera in the glove box. It has a video mode that does a fairly
decent job in bright daylight. It came in handy this winter when a
boneheaded lady in a big SUV backed into my truck in the parking lot of
a bank. No problems from the insurance folks with that kind of ammo!
I also caught a retard doing 100+ on the interstate in heavy traffic.
Just a thought,

That is until one of their own kids gets hit or killed because of an idiot driver who does not stop .... then that law or something similar will be rushed into being. Becuase it happens to them personally.
I'm glad to hear THA (LOL !!!) kids are alive. The cops and courts should take everything this idiot has and sell it to give to the kids and their families. Take all his money and make this guy BROKE & HOMELESS !!!!!!! That will be the only way he will "remember" what he did.
It's time to toughen up the laws .... "eye for an eye"

One other "roadblock" to passing laws concerning the elderly and frequency of driver's tests is the AARP. They are one of the largest lobbying groups in Washington D.C. If you get enough of their members voicing outrage over the prospects of them losing their right to drive, you can be sure the lawmakers will have a real tough time passing legislation concerning the issue. The lawmakers know who generally vote, and wouldn't think of passing any laws that might "piss off" their constituents.
Another group of drivers that cause a lot of death and destruction, that also need tougher laws, are those who drive drunk. This past weekend, three teenagers were walking along the shoulder of the road in a nearby town when they were struck by a driver whose blood alcohol content was THREE times the legal limit. He ended up killing one and the other two were sent to the hospital with various injuries. Back in March, a 12 year old Girl Scout was struck and killed in another nearby town while she was going house to house selling Girl Scout cookies. Both of these incidents, the drivers were so drunk, they said they didn't realize they had hit anybody. The guy who hit the Girl Scout continued driving on and was finally located a couple of days later.

this happened a little ways from me:
Motorist Runs Over Two Year-Old Boy
(10.21.05 - AP) — Police continue searching for a motorist who struck a two year-old boy in Aurora — while the toddler undergoes treatment at an area hospital.
Authorities say Irvin Losoya was walking through a parking lot with his mother yesterday morning when he went ahead of her. A man driving near their apartment complex then hit the boy, ran over him, and sped away.
Sergeant Rudy Herrera says the child is in serious condition.
The driver apparently stopped and looked back at the boy before fleeing the scene. His vehicle is described as a small to mid-sized blue or green car bearing Colorado plates.
Police say the plates may include the number one, followed by 08, 09 or 90 — but witnesses weren't sure about the combination.
Anyone with information in the case is urged to contact Aurora police.
Irvin suffered skeletal injuries, but is expected to survive.
Herrera calls the hit-and-run collision "outrageous."
