OK, I've just started work on this one, my first non-1:43 car in ages, my first plastic car in ages and my first dragster in... well, at least 15 years!
I had the pleasure of seeing these beast up close for the first time in June last year when they came over for the Festival of Speed. I'de seen old black and white photos before, but in the flesh they blew me away. Late on the Friday I was got chatting with the crew of Rat Trap, Pure Heaven and Pure Hell, and was blown away by how down to earth and freindly they were. They were just amazed any one knew who they were, or even cared! I planned on modelling some of the cars, but it's taken a while to find suitable bits.
My model is based in the Bantam Blast kit, and will have Slixx decals. I'm building fom the box with added detailing, using bits from Detail Master and MCG among others, progress is slow because I have to order everything from the States. It won't be totally acurate (the front suspension should be leaf springs for instance), but the car seems to have had many changes over the years, so I aim to capture the spirit of the car.
So far I've started mocking up the motor, and started on the chasis.
