2000 Passat rear window regulator

:screwy: The right rear passenger side window is stuck (in the up position). I have removed the interior plastic panel, and the electrical connections, removed 7 or 8 bolts that hold the metal panel to the door. I can't get that metal panel off. Do I need to remove the door handle, and if so, there appears to be two "star-shaped" fasteners on the door jamb. What are these called, in case I need to buy the tool (bits)? I need to able to SEE the regulator before I can determine what the problem is. I've replaced regulators on Audi's, but this Passat is different. ??????
