i have an automatic tranny thats still leaking...i took it to the tranny shop and the guy said that the fluid seems to be coming from the speedo sensor..now in order to repair the problem, he says he needs speedo seals and motor mounts. One thing i dont understand is why he needs the motor mounts. I didnt ask him that becuz at the moment i thought it wasnt much of a big deal....well thats until i found out that these so called motor mounts cost a fuckin fortune for something so small (pardon my language)!!

So my question is do you think he is someone i can trust and is that the only way he can get to the Speedo Seals? Thanks in advance.

Motor mounts and a speedo sensor seal? What the hell? I'd understand the seal, although I didnt see it when I changed out my sensors. The seal is probbaly in the tranny itself around the hole. I once tried to drive without the sensor in there and yes, there was fluid all over from shooting up but a seal isnt going to make the BIGGEST difference in there. Motor mounts??????????? uhh... You got me on that one. The lil things yes cost anywhere from $40-$90 each. Just pieces of rubber + metal. But anyway Replacing that seal should NOT cost alot. Motor mounts I have NO idea why you'd have to replace that. Maybe it has nothing to do with the leak and he is actually trying to say that you also have to replace the motor mounts because he noticed they were bad too? Or just trying to make a fast buck?

I would bet that one of the mounts is going bad. If you get that fixed for you, and you think something is suspicious, ask to see the old part, that way you kow they changed something.

i honestly think that these guys are trying to play me for a sucker so today i went to the honda dealership to confirm if i really needed motor mounts to replace the speedo seals. interestingly enough, they said that the speedo sensor has nothing to do with the tranny leaking fluid; dripping fluid all the way down to the bottom. On top of that, they said i dont need motor mounts to replace the speedo seals anyways.

Before I've had my doubts trusting mechanics since i have been to so many and today i learned that i cannot trust any mechanic whatsoever as it seems like everyone of them is trying to make a quick buck or so off of me. Believe me, alotta them are really good at fooling people by being all nice and shit so i'm fed up with mechanics in general.
