cv axle removal

2002 GP with 3.1L

Ok, here's where I am:

Removed everything to get to old axle, looking to find out if the shaft can be removed from the transaxle on this one by prying or if I have to remove the transaxle housing to get to the retainer ring. This axle is no good so I don't care what happens to it, but I don't wanna screw up anything else

Oh, I forgot, I'm on the right side axle.

The axle should just pop out with a little prying. It is retained in the transaxle by a snap ring.
