not all that much has been goin on with it, i have allthe parts, ALL of them except pistons now... i bought pistons for my new motor, but i couldnt use em cuz they were forged 4afe pistons, but 4agze con rods arent bushed and the pistons didnt have keepers... so i got nick arias cell phone # (dont ask how i got it) and im having him make me a set of custom 9.3:1 comp pistons (i have a 2mm metal headgasket that will lower the comp about a point) for the total sum of about $500-600
other than that me and my mechanic decided on a 8500 RPM redline (even tho we could psuh it to about 9500) but decided not to goto my original goal of 9000 becuase this is going to be a street/strip motor, not full race so i need it to last...also i got a weight on my con rods, they wiegh 425 grams a piece apart from the stock 650 gram 4afe ones
headwise im using hsk valve srpings and shimless bucket retainers (to help the revv capabilities). as for engine managment, im most liekyl going to use an smt-6 fuel system, either that or send my ecu into jet and have them re chip the ecu and set a 10,000 rpm redline and add fuel mapping up to it (if some dont rememebr i acutally had a 4afe ecu that was chipped by jet and tuned with an safc, wish i wouldntve sold it now, i sold it for the exact cost it would be to re program it :( )
my only real concern is the cam, im not getting regrinds (as of now) and im in contact with a company now ot custon make me the cams and a an adjustable cam gera for the f head....but thats not workin out to well so i doubt ill have a cam by the time its finished and running.....that also concerns me considering i know the stock cam is NOT goign to be able to revv to 8500 for a long time...so it looks like ill be breaking this engine in for a long time (well...by breaking in i mean staying below 7500 rpm:) )
other than that nothing new...alot of money right now is going to new tires (falken azenis rt-615's) and i need new suspension, i was rallyin a few weeks back and blew out my back left shock (again)...and i need bnew halfshafts (fuckin again, seriously ive gone thorugh like 4 or 5 now, weak shit)...oh yea i mconcerned about my tranney too, i pretty much have no 2nd syncro, and my 3rd is starting to go, as well as if im breaking the cv boots left and right now, imagine what im going to do when im puttin down 150+WHP

damn sounds like you are making your car into a part eater. Are cf half shafts worth it at all?

its not really the halfshafts that keep breaking, its the cv boots, sad to say but from my experienece there all fairly weak
and wtf is up with stupid mechasnics, my 4agze rods ARE NOT BUSHED, and they need keepers to hold them in place....wtf is with all these idiots saying full float wrist pins will work with gze rods BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT WORK

your piston is held onto your rod by a wrist pin, (20mm on 4agze and 4age rods cept first gen rage had 18mm wrist pin, 4afe and 7afe use 20mm), on all toyota engines they are held in by keepers. 2 little metal clamps that prevent the wrist pin from sliding out from the piston, but the piston is allowed to travers on the wrist pin
then there are bushed pistons, the rod and piston are heated really hott (heat expands metal) then the wrist pin is slid in, this all has to be done with in seconds (this is done because the wrist pin is bigger in diameter than the rod dso the rod is heated and sticks on the wrist pin, the wrist pin moves wiht the rod and the piston traverses on the wrist pin)
then theres "full float" witch some piston guys are bullshitting trying to sell me saying the wrist pin isnt held in by anything, wtich is impossible for my enigne becuase the pin will slide out and scratch my cylendar wall

are the keepers like the pins that hold the rocker arms in place like the ones on VW dune buggies?
