Hello everyone, this is my first post so be easy on me ok. here are a few pics of my 240 with front and rear wide fenders, what do u think?it only has a ka24e, overheated on the freeway when try to start it cranks a bit but makes a loud squeaky noise. Im thinkin piston rings are out....need help. Now as with the other one it's stock with ka24de won't start either, turn the key and it clicks once, engine does not crank so I'm thinkin the starter is where i should check frist.Need help also please. Here's another problem i got, which one should i sell to modify the other? or sell both and modify my TSX( would be nice to modify the TSX but don't really care )?????? But then this is my frist project car and hate to leave them unfinished, would love to drive anyone of the 240's. Don't know which one......The wide fenders are Version select, the coupe is AUTO cost me $700 the hatch is 5sp just bought it for $300. I'll make more if i sell the hatch and use the money to get a SR20. But the hatch has all the parts for a 5speed conversion. I dunno thought i'll share what im thinkin ... thanks all for reading and giving opinionshttp://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88/KEiTHiEKiD/S13001.jpg

I think the last thing you should be worrying about is widebody fenders.

Throw the Coupe in the Trash.

-Part Out the Silvia Front / Wide Body.
-Fix the Hatches Motor (If it turns out OK) and Keep the Stock KA
-Do As much suspension work as possible on the hatch with whatever money you have (Stock 240s with SR Swaps are lame as hell)

thats what Id do

yeah.. widebody doesn't look so good when the fenders are the only parts that are in decent shape.. i only like the s13 conversion on coupes so i'd say sell the hatch and work on the coupe. fix the body since you've already started, then get a decent engine in. read up on turboing the ka (kae or kade) and the rb series engines. if money isn't such an issue then i'd say go rb or ka-t. the sr is almost cliche for the 240 now.. at the same time get some suspension work done like rw said and you'll be set. i guess that would be ideal for me if i had lots of money but nontheless that would be my route.

What i would do is use the Hatch for the 5 speed swap...or donor car for extra parts...once used and abused sell it for 300...(you can get that for a s13 shell) then with the money you sold the s13 for buy a decent motor (whatever your choosing) if the hatchs motor gets running swap it in. save some money get some suspension work...then some wheels...then get the body fixed...body should always be last (dont look at my car)...thats my take on it...

and just to add...i guess i dont know alot about coupe wide bodies, but as far as im concerned that rear wide looks like shit...lines dont match for shit...i know mine matched perfect on my hatch

keep the hatch part out the coupe..and it depends on what you want to do with the car...in my opinion i would go ka-t or rb...

The reason it doesn't like up is because he riveted his on, driftking, you molded the fenders on. And KEi give me the coupe if you don't want it.

wtf am i missing something, the body lines are matched up. Or do you mean at the back they dont go all the way up to the trunk line and bumper lines?? And i thought driftking did rivet his on....thats the way its supposed to be i thought?? If you part out the coupe ill buy the headlights, corner lights, and center bezel.

id keep the hatch cuz its already a 5 and has a de.

1) i don't get it when people buy SILVIA stuff and they have a stock 240
2) the SR20DET is over played
3) 240 are old... hence $$$$$$$$$$$$ is needed 2 make them look nice
4) trust me, good suspension makes ANY car fun 2 drive, especially the 240.

if ur going to mod the coup, do what R W 240 said, suspension bro. u will love it! and for speed , KA -T!

so most of u guys would go ka-t over sr? to go ka-t u gonna have get pistons, rods and then the turbo kit , which when finshied gonna cost more then a sr

Honestly if you have to nitpick over 500$ on something like a Turbo or motor swap you shouldnt do it.

Spend your money in suspension... what magazines fail to mention is that a car with 5K into the suspension is 5 times cooler than the same car with 5K into the motor.

Heres the Formula for Sucess.
-17x9 +20 FN01R wheels (Avalible from SPLparts.com in 4 Lug)-1000$
-235/40 Falken ST115s---------------------------------------600$
-SPL Tension Rods--------------------------------------------160$
-Subframe Colllars---------------------------------------------80$
-KTS SC Beta Coilovers---------------------------------------1115$
-R200 VLSD Differential-----------------------------------------100$
-SSAutochome Engine Back Exhaust----------------------------400$

Thats a little over 4K in parts... What you get is a 240SX that is nothing special but unlike a stock 240SX with Stock SR or Ebay Turbo KA-T it doesnt suck... And it gives you a good start for future mods instead of killing yourself having 200whp on blown shocks.

You don't need new rods for a KA-T because they are forged and the piston will hold for a while, do a little studying.

KA pistons are just as strong as SR pistons. They are bascially the same. Both forged aluminum. SR just has a lower compressoin ratio. So, you will need race gas before the SR will. Or water injection.

Both will hold near the same cylinder pressure before pistons break.

KA torque just goes through the roof before HP gets a chance to shine most of the time.

[QUOTE]

I think thats become an over done...oversight...anyone that buys something for there car because "its over played" is stupid...SR's are cheap, realiable and have decent power and easy to get more power out of. 240's are not something you need $$$ to make nice...if the car is is in decent shape, just getting a lip spoiler and some wheels can set it off. a 240 is probably one of the cheaper cars due to the product and demand coming to the states...there are TONS of cheap 240 parts floating around...you just have to find them...if you dont know where to look, and you've been around 240's for awhile...then you should get out of them...buy a civic...

and SlideStar...my widefenders followed my body lines perfect...(rear window...and the hatch lines) and mine is rivited...yea...was done so clean...you can barely tell..damn im good...
