Anybody else have that extra 7th speaker on the middle of the dash blow out after not so heavy use?
I need to know what size it is, and where I could get just one that would fit, and not blow out after little strenuous use.

just pop it out and leave it disconnected. you won't be able to tell the difference.
if you must have the speaker, its a 3.5" speaker

I've got the center speaker from my 2000 GT that I popped out and do not use. It is a Rockford Fosgate 2 Way.. pretty HQ stuff. I can ship it to you for $20 if you want it.

hey wats up. i had the same problem and i unplugged it and it worked fine , also its not a 3.5" speaker its a 2.5" hard to find you cant replace it with anyother kinda speaker cause all the sound system is the same infinity kappa i belive, two ways to get them hard way expensive dealer about $105 and takes time to ship, or my way find a junk yard might take few days but it pays to wait find one and any eclipse 2000 and up the speaker in the middle will work and you can get it for about 5 to $10$ thats wat i did and worked fine.

How do you get to it to disconnect it? Getting the center console off it easy enough but to panel over the speaker/time display doesn't have screws in the front.

Alright, just pulling it isn't working. There's something keeping it on, including the front of that panel. If you'd help me out, got try yours again. Let me know where it connects.

you can replace it fine, brand doesnt matter. you'll just need to do some soldering

sitting in your seat looking at the dash with the center part of the consol removed exposing the heater ducts and radio. you will see two little knobs of plastic on either side of the piece that covers the clock and speaker. GENTLY place a flat head screwdriver behind either knobby and Gently pry. if this is the 1st time you have ever removed your dash parts some times they stick a bit. it really is a simple design and very nice to work with. if you have any problems let me know i will take some pics and throw them up here i would hate for someone to mess up their dash.

you can put up to a 3 1/2 inch speaker in the front. just use a hobby knife/carboard cutter and trim out the thin plastic. the harnes clips to the connector and the speaker so you can remove the factory harness, splice the wires out of the car and reinstall them easily. putting in a 3 1/2 make one hell of a difference!
