i have an '01 SE model with a zetec and it keeps making a loud noise that you can hear from the inside and out, it sounds like its coming from the belt area below the cam gears, also, it gets alot louder and theres a vibration when i turn the steering wheel, i'm thiking its the power steering, but i can still drive it without any handling differences and if it were the power steering why would the sound come from that specific area, its all stock, and it doesn't sound good at all and i don't wanna drive it too much until i get it fixed so, any ideas what it might be? ? ?

Sounds like the right front motor mount. The cost is about 60.00. It is pretty easy to replace if you have a good jack.
It could also be the bearing that spins on the outside of your drive axel. This could be a big job if you are not tooled up.

Im pretty sure this is the same problem my girlfriend is having with her 02 focus. Engine sounds like it is really straining and its getting a bad vibration, i didnt notice a difference in the acceleration so i think its the motor mount(s), is there anyway i could be sure before i actually replace it.????
