Hi-
I just picked up my new 05 Access Cab, Silver, IL4, 4x4 SR5. I'm very happy and have only two mods I'd like to do. One is a soft tonneau (already ordered a Truxedo LoPro), the other is fog lamps.
I'm planning to buy the factory fog lamp kit from toyotapart.com, (http://www.toyotapart.com/product.a...=390103&cID=111) and install the lights into the dummy sockets in the bumper.
I would think that the wiring loom would be the same in all the 05's so the connectors would be pre-wired in but, looking around behind the bumper, I don't see anything. I guess I'll have to run the wires, plug the included relay into the fuse box, and run the switchwire through the bulkhead to one of the switch blanks on the dash. (The kit says it includes the plugs, relay and switch.)
Has ANYone done this? Since the kit includes all the parts, this SHOULD be easy. My main concern is where to plug the relay. I looked in the fuse/relay box, but didn't see any obvious fog light jack.
Thanks in advance for any info!

So... NO one has put aftermarket or factory fogs on an 05 Taco?
I just want to be sure the factory kit will install on a Taco that didn't come with fogs as original equipment.

Did you install the Taco fog light kit? How did it go in? Where did the relay mount? I bought the same truck and I need fog lights. Interested in knowing how your self install proceeded. Thanks

tcant-
I've had this question posted on FOUR different Tacoma forums, and have had NO response from anyone who has actually installed the Factory Fog Light Kit on a non-fog Tacoma!! :(
One poster said that it "should" work... he was an electrical engineer who worked on Tacoma electrix systems. But he wasn't 100%.
I'm planning to try it soon, but too many other things going on right now.

Thanks for the reply. When the lights get installed, I'd be interested in knowing how you made out. Thanks.

i have a 05' taco reg cab 4x4 which did not come with fog lites. installed the piaa 510 fogs which fit very well into the sockets. you do have to drill a hole at the base of the opening. wiring was not a problem nor was installing the switch where the electrical mirrors sw would be. what i did though was dissasemble the piaa switch, and elongated the access hole for the wiring on the back of the switch. this was done so the wire could pass thru the plastic knock out without being seen. used double sided 3m tape to hold switch onto plate. will try and take pics of this and post shortly.
also experimenting with the headlites. i heated my oven up to 350 for 30 min, then shut off. put in headlite assembly and was able to remove the outer plastic lens. painted the chrome same color as truck and then reinstalled the lens. you can also use a heat gun, but it has to be worked very slowly and carefully. will post pics of this mod later. on the toyota nation forum, this was done by someone else and he shows pics of the whole operation.

Sunruner,
Where did you plug in the relay? Where did you mount the relay? Did you need to run wires all the way to each light? Did you use the post on the 510 to mount the lights by drilling through the bottom of the bunmper hole? I would be interested in the pics. thanks
