I sold a 1974 Camaro. I have heard stories of people tracking down a car they sold years ago. I would like to know how they did it. I have talked to the person I sold it to and there it deadends. I do have the VIN. The dmv is no help. Has anyone ever had any luck at finding there old car?

You would think with the advent of the internet and all it is capable of doing, you would be able to at least find a company who specializes in searches like what you need.Have you looked toward the internet to see if such a company exists? It would seem fair to think that there are companies out there who can find lost friends and relatives, and some of them use social security numbers to do so, then a company should be able to search records using a VIN number. I have used Carfax in the past to look up whether a vehicle was worth further looking into, and they use VIN numbers. On some of the searches I did in Carfax, it was able to give me dates of services and mileage on some of the vehicles. I wonder if you could see if Carfax might be able to assist you, I haven't used them in awhile, so I am not certain of the services they now offer, but if you are able to track dates and locations, that might be able to give you enough of a lead or point you in the right direction. Good luck.
