I have a 98 122K miles and it runs pretty damn well. around 21+ miles to the gallon on average. When you flush the system use dexcool (the orange pinkish stuff) and replace your radiator cap if it is stock with a stant or anything other then ac delco. Try to get a stant, avaiable at autozone, pepboys, and I believe napa. Good luck with your new to you truck!:grinno:

I have a 1998 with about 83k and I love it, the only problem is a slight surge in the engine around 45 mph...but I only get 16 mpg, any suggestions on how to raise the mpg?

Full tune up, use your cruise control more often, run some fuel injector cleaner in every so often, and switch to synthetic oil and use any filter other then fram. Use either Wix, napa, AC Delco. Good luck

Can't say I noticed a dramatic difference in gas mileage, but I do notice the truck running better, idling better, more power. And the most important of all is the cold weather start up. Sounds like you need a full tuneup. Do a searsh for tuneup and you will find everything you need and more. Good luck
