Whining noise?

I've got a 2004 XG350 with 30,000 miles. I'm hearing a whining noise that seems to be more pronounced in the rear. The whine changes with speed and can even be heard at low speeds. If the car were rear wheel drive I might suspect a differential problem, but its not. Could the whine be due to tire wear? I've still got pretty good tread left, but certainly not as much as a new tire. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

It could be a tire problem. Do you rotate them regularly? If you rotate them, they can become cupped, causing a roaring or whining noise. Could also be a wheel bearing. You are still under warranty, so take it to your dealer and let them check it out.

Bad alignment could also be the problem.
