Loss Of Power After Wire Change

I have a '89 Ranger XLT with a 2.9L V6 and an auto transmission. Recently I changed all the spark plug wires including the coil wire. Then today I start it up and start driving down the street, NO POWER AT ALL. I had my foot to the floor and it barely made 25 MPH between stop signs.

I checked everything out, everything is hooked up right, any ideas?

OK, messed with Timing, posistion of the wires, and put in the original coil wire with a new rotor. Ran fine.

Now, a few days later it is come and go with horsepower. At times it will be fine, then the Check Engine Light will come on and it will bog down and lose horsepower like you wouldn't believe. I have to shut the truck off and re-start it until I get a start without the light on(every so often it will be there on start).

Any Ideas at all? If the light was always on, I could take it to a friend's shop to hook it up to the computers, but since its not, I don't think it will read anything. Please, share any ideas!

Thanks!
