97 Corolla stalls when I come off the interstate

My Corolla runs good however every now and then when I come off the interstate and slow down for a stop sign at the bottom of the ramp, it stalls out. After a couple of attemps the car starts and I proceed on my way. this only happens after I come off the Interstate, around town its ok. any suggestions?

hmm..very strange, at first i thought it could've been ur fuel pump, because my mom's minivan had the same symptoms, does it stall when you stop quickly? like at a stop light or something?

Yes, It stalls when I come off the highway and stop at a stop sign at the bottom of the ramp. The lights on the dash come on. The car has 120,000km on it. I changed the fan belt last week but it happened again yesterday. thank you for your reply.

I had exactly the same problem with my corolla 2001. I have changed fuel pump and it solved the problem.

First it was very rare, but then it became more often and often....
Also when i was putting dry gas it had bigger interval between stalls...
I was bringing car to toyota dealer they said they couldn't replicate the problem and chaged iddle speed control... Which didnt help. Only after changing fuel pump problem disappear...
