You know all the dealerships can easily just use thier computers and just log on to the cars electronic system to check error codes or make adjustments or a system reset, but is there any 3rd party software with hardware connectors that lets you use your home laptop and connect to the cars electronic systems?

Has anyone seen any link software that is availible for smallers repair shops or "home fixers"?

Thank You In Advance!

Most all cars you can check codes and reset the computer without any special equipment.

It depends on the car. Pre-OBD2 (before 96) cars usually have pretty easy software. You would buy something like Autotap which is the base program, then buy the software for 92-95 LT1 along with a cord that would attach from a laptop to the port.

There are even softwares for PalmOS
