I have a 00 camry that I bought used in 02. I bought extended warranty but the warranty is over since I m over the mileage. The car started blowing out blue smoke a few months ago but didn't give it that much notice. Now when I took it to the dealers, they told me the reason was the valve stem lining. They want 2 charge me bout $800 for the fix. Is there any way you guyz could HELP this poor college student...

Hi gujuchokra,
$ 800.00  :disappoin :banghead: is alot of money for for that type of repair. as long as the car only blows blue smoke at startup and not all the time you shouldn't worry about it. you might want to put an additive in your oil to help rejuvinate the valve seals so the car wont smoke so much. thicker oil also helps alleviate the problem. :2cents:

Was that extended waranty part of a "Certified Used Car" purchase? If so, I believe the milage is for 100,000 or five years. If so, check your paperwork, you've got about three months. If not, oh well.
As Joet said, you could just run it this way. It won't hurt anything as long as it doesn't get too much worse. Just check your oil level to be sure you don't run it low. Also, change your oil in this car every 3000 miles.
