Performance Differences, Trans Am and WS6

Hi folks

I posted once before on a somewhat related topic, but...I am still new to Firebirds/Trans AMs and am looking to get one within a years time.

I am looking at 1998-1999 as those years are the only newer ones I can seem to afford right now (that is if I get the right price for my Grand Prix I will be selling)

I'll keep it short,

Other than the Hood, and the Suspension package, are there any performance difference between a regular Trans AM with the LS1, and the WS6? Are the engines tuned the same? Or are there any HP differences?

If it comes to it, I would rather spend less on just a regular TransAM, and buy the ramair hood aftermarket later when the funds become more available.

I am looking for something a lot quicker than my GP, and I would like to stick to Pontiac's, so this seems like the right thing to do. Thanks a lot for all your help.

Well if you know anything about Camaros and how they're the same with Firebirds then it'd be easier to explain but i'll tell you just the way I know how to anyway. All you got to know is that the only difference really is just the hood.. the engine is exactly the same, all that the WS.6 has from a regular Trans Am is 20 extra HP that you can get with the Trans Am when you put on the hood and an airbox that is functional.. other than that they're exactly the same. Goodluck in buying one

No.

The only difference in HP is 15. Although GM never did rate the LS1 properly in the F-Body's.
Both a T/A and a WS.6 T/A will see about the exact same on the dyno. Either car could be faster. Really depends on conditions/driver.
