Mid Life Crisis Car Recommendations?

Thinking of getting a 2004 Tib v6, 6 speed, and wondered what recommendations you could give me? Father owned a GM dealership and I spent my summers working in the shop. I've always done my own maintenance to a point - rebuilt manual transmissions, clutches, replaced intake and head gaskets, timing belts, and the routine stuff. Are these cars self maintainable? I've looked under the hood of a couple and wondered if this really is an engine or what? It seems to me vehicles are becoming less and less self maintainable and this may be one where you are at the dealers mercy. Comments? Posts like this thread worry me.

The warranty on these cars seems very good. Is the secret to get rid of them before it expires?

the engine bay on the v6 is a bit cramped, but very manageable...
headers may give you a hard time tho... (if you plan on puttin aftermarket headers on)
modding the v6 is pretty easy, so you shouldnt have a problem with the delta since you have previous general knowledge of engines

yeah ditch that one and buy another
well if you look at some tuts on how to instal the headers, its really cramped but its not to cramped to the point where you cant do anything, its very possible to do alot of things by your self on this car, and i plan on getting mine in april ^_^ cant wait

If you have access to a shop and lift then you should have problem maintaining it.

Hell, I'd take a 2002 Right Side Drive, Nissan Skyline GT-R R34...
But then again, I could settle for a 2006 Prosche 911 Turbo S
But thats just me...

Thanks for the suggestions. On doing some checking it appears the Lancer Evolution VIII is not available in Canada. Not listed on the Mitsubishi's web site, nor are there any listed in AutoTrader. Also not so sure I'm into the rally look (not a Subaru fan either). It does seem to have some impressive performance for a car. Acceleration seems to be about on par with a 500 Kawasaki bike I had many years ago.
I had looked at the Eclipse despite being told it was a chick car. But I found it more expensive than the Tib and the 2006 is the first one that I like the looks of - way too expensive compared to a 2004 Tib.
I have wondered however, why Hyundai does not put the higher HP Sonata V6 in the Tib?

my guess is because it would perform just the same, its a heavier engine, so itll add more weight to the car, plus whatever fabrication would have to be done to the car.

I lied. There was one listed in Autotrader.ca. This must have been the one that failed the bumper test!!
