I just purchased this car about a week ago and Iam having some problems. My main concern after it starts up while Iam driving it stalls, I know its not the battery I just replaced that. I was told it might need a badly needed tune up. Okay, I called around and I got a quote of 180.00. Because they have to tilt the Engine to do a simple tune up? Is this true? Why would they make a care like that. I owned a 78 grand prix before and that was not like that.
Please help me?!

Changing the rear plugs can be a challange due to the clearance issue. It is easier to tilt the engine forward to get to the plugs but it is not absolutely necessary. If you use a short ratchet and a universal you can reach them without much problem. If you want to save some real money why don't you try to do the job yourself. You could probably get by with new wires and plugs for less than $60 depending on what wires you use.
Also spend a few dollars for a fuel filter, air filter, pcv and a can of throttle body cleaner. Remove the throttle body and clean the throttle body and idle air control motor. This should help your stalling problem.
Good Luck and welcome to the forum!

I have a 1990 GPse 3.1 and did tune up about a month ago and yes it is possible to change rear plugs w/out tilting motor but you need some patience as it is a very tight squeeze. Try it yourself and save a hundred bucks(at least). You can do plugs & wires in less than an hour
