Hi everyone I am new to these boards and I am in need of serious help. I have a 95 s-10 4.3 4x4 with muliti-port.
I am getting no power at all. Nothing happens when I turn the key on or the headlights on etc. I have checked all the fuses and they are not blown. I am trying to figure out what wire goes to the fuse box. The main power from the battery has 3 wires.
1 to the starter
1 to a fusable link and looks like it goes to the ecm. (in the engine bay)
1 I really don't know where it goes??? a friend told me it goes to the stater, but not sure why the starter would have 2 power wires. Could this be the wire that goes to the fuse box to give the truck power?
Anyone with some knowledge please help. Also anyone has a diagram or knows where the main power wires go that would help a lot.
Thx for all your help.
ps Also I know my battery is good and I have cleaned all the connections etc. No power at all.

Your a good man Josh, that was the first thing to do.
The first thing that I would do is try to bypass that fuseable link, and just make sure that it isn't your problem.
If it doesn't work check out the big battery wires.
You should be able to test them with a multi meter, or test light. They won't tell you how good they really are, but they'll tell you if you have power there.
Touch 1 end to the terminal at the starter, and the other end to the batteries negitive.
If it lights up touch 1 end to some bare metal, and the other end to the batteries positive.
God Luck

Hi,
Thx for the response. The problem I'm having is no power at all and I assume I'm not getting any power to the fuse box as I have no accessories or anything. Nothing happens when I turn the key or try to turn on the lights.
That is why I think main power wire is the problem. I have one wire that is not connected and can't figure out where it goes.
3 power wires are connected on the pos battery They branch off:
1 goes to the starter
1 goes to a fuseable link and goes to the ecm
1 I have no idea where it goes
and this is the wire I believe gives the truck power for all the accessories etc.
If anyone knows where this wire goes or has any information that would be great.

If the one hanging loose has an eyelet on the end, check to see if it goes to the back of the alternator. I have two wires coming off the +12v on my '89 and one goes to the starter, one to the alternator.
I take it you took the negative off its engine ground and cleaned/checked that connection?

Hey Josh,
Thx for the response. You are correct it does go to the alternator. As soon as I touched it to the alternator everything worked. Thanks a lot for responding and you saved me some money as I now don't have to go to the dealer. I should have paid better attention when I pulled the motor out. I just didn't think the alternator would have 2 wires going to it and the one from the battery would stretch across the motor. Thanks again.
