Does anybody know what all i would have to do to convert and AWD talon to a FWD talon? and if your wondering why i'm doing it. I cant afford an AWD tranny but i found a functional FWD for a decent price.

That would be like taking the nuts off a bull, and replacing them with marbles. AWD is an edge that should be utilized, not stripped away. Save up for the AWD tranny.

yeah.... seriously you will REGRET switching it to FWD instead of keeping it AWD. Wheel spin is a bitch.

I'll agree that this move ould be bizarre, but to answer the question, I can't think of anything else that would have to be changed. I see good shifting 1g awd trannys for 300 all day long, so I am assuming you mean 2g (more like 5-600). You'l obviously want to remove the driveshaft.

Wouldnt the rear dif need to be removed? Wont it just get damaged because its just dragging?

he wants kevin to find a awd tranny for 300. look on ebay and if you find one take your salvage yard the ebay quote and they might give it to you for that uf you cant do that just buy one off ebay.

Just leaving the rear end back there would be ok I think (not sure). Converting the rear end and the FWD tranny would cost more than just saving and buying an AWD tranny. You should be able to beat $500, I would either save up or hit eBay.

AWD tranny's for 1g's are usually only $100 - $200 more expensive then a FWD one. If you think about, converting a AWD to a FWD would cost more then just buying an AWD tranny. Unless you plan on doing the work yourself, and selling your AWD parts then maybe you can save couple hundred dollars. This has to be the most bizzare conversion I've heard of so far, soon someone is going to want to make their turbo a NA.

Poeple NT thier cars all the time. For new motor breakins though :D

I don't see how leaving the rear diff in will hurt anything, it will sping freely and has its own oil supply, etc.

Just realized that you will have to swap the flywheel and starter plate too, those must match the tranny, and AWD and FWD are different diameters. Clutchs are the same however. And I still don't condone this behavior, just trying to help :D
