Golf 95 Gone Crazy !!!!

An unusal thing as just begin happening when starting the car.
The engine goes up to 3000 rpm for about 5 seconds and than goes right back to idle speed around 1000 rpm.
This thing can also repeat itself while driving with a cold engine, and will stop completely when the engine is in normal working temps.
When starting up the A/C even if the car is cold this malfunction will never happen.

Besides that the starting of the car is very difficult and it usauly takes the starter about 5 seconds to start the engine.

Hi it sounds like the engine tems sensor is at fault, this would cause poor cold starting and runing thay cost about £15.
