I'd look into getting a ram air hood.. along with an airbox that works with it.. then some headers and exhaust stuff.
Dont know much about headers.. exhaust, i've heard good things from Borla and magnaflow mainly.

What do you want the car to do?
Are you going to be running it at the track regularly and always looking for a "new best", or are you looking to run better on the street?
If it were me w/an auto car that was basically stock, I'd do a converter and tires to start with. More cost efficient IMO. A good TC and tires will improve your 60'/ET's more than the same money spent on a lid/headers(minor bolt on's).
Also, if you're still running the stock gear(assuming 3.42 or higher), I'd do a gear swap to a 3.73 or even a 4.10(depending on TC stall), which is a nice SOTP improvement(again w/out adding more rwhp).

Cat-back, lid, stall converter. That should about eat up $1000.
$300 for some drag radials, and you should be easily into the 12's.
