Today i was putting fog lights on my s-10 88 blazer I hooked the powersupply wire to the (+) battery terminal. and the rest through the firewall to the switch. When i started the car and turned on the fog lights the car shut off and wouldnt start up and not one electrical thing would work. so after i chargedthe battery i started the car and now the fan under the hood is extremley loud and feels like a hurricane when standing in front of it. The fan will calm for a second then got to max speed again. I let the thing sit for a while and i did this the whole time. We think it couldve been something i may have messed up while feeding the wires under the hood from the fog lights, such as the thermostat, but i dont know.

The fan has nothing to do with the electrical system.

If yours is anything like my 89 . You have extra wires running all over the place . I have added an electric fan with a thermastat and a manual override. guages to back up the originals . lights speakers . When I cut on my manual switch it feeds power thru the wirs back to the accessory fuse block and cuts the stereo on. Maybe your fan is getting power thru the accesory ciruit too . just a thought . Did you hit any other wires when you were installing the fan?

Any time you connect to battery + terminal, you should have an inline fuse close to the battery.

Did you cut a wire while running it through the firewall? It doesn't take much - always use a grommet.
